Came to America after he was an elderly man. He was one of the early settlers of Stratford but did not live long. He entered land in Stratford and deeds mention persons receiving land "by gift from their grandfather". Samuel Fairchild, Thomas Fairchild, Jehiel Preston, John Wheeler's wife, Samuel Stile's wife.

Robert married 12 September 1596 Alice Goodspeed, daughter of Nicholas Jr. and Margaret ( ) Goodspeed.
