The Liberty Baptist Church is located in section 21 of Northern Township in Franklin County Illinois. The Liberty Ridlen cemetery is located next to the church. The land was donated by Samuel Ridlen. Samuel purchased 40 acres @ $1.25 cents an acre at a cost of $50 in section 21 of the NWSW of T5S R4E, Northern Township in Franklin County on April 12, 1854. It must be from this land that the church and cemetery is located on.
Samuel Ridlen served in the 4th Ohio Regt. as a Sergeant under Captain S. B. Kyler and Col. Findley in the War of 1812. He enlisted from Cincinnati, Ohio and served from 25 April 1812 to 24 April 1815. For this he was granted bounty warrants for 160 acres in Douglas County, [mistake, should say Franklin County,] in the area known as "Egypt", in southern Illinois. This land was in "Webbs Prairie".

This web page consists of documentation researched mostly by JoAnn McGhee, and some by Sheldon Jones, and some by the web master. The pictures were taken by Sheldon Jones with a few from Lynne Westra.
Your web master is Susan Dorris and I researched the ancestry of the Ridlen family. More about them later.
