821 Dr. Richard H. Rotramel, physician and surgeon, was born in Franklin County in 1848, the son of Henry and Eliza J. (Maddox) Rotramel, for an account of whom see the sketch of Dr. E. M. Rotramel. Richard was educated at Ewing, and when twenty years old became a teacher, and so continued for five terms, three of which were in Williamson and Hamilton Counties. During this time he began medical study; in 1875 studied under Dr. W. J. Burgess, and the following year under his brother, Dr. Elijah M. In 1877 he entered Missouri Medical College, at St. Louis, and in 1878 he graduated. From then until the fall of 1886 he was located in Frankfort, in partnership with his brother. They kept a first-class stock of drugs also in connection with their practice. March 28, 1872, he married Mary J. Sanders, who was born in Crockett County, Tenn. Dr. Rotramel is one of the leading physicians of the village, and is highly esteemed. He is a Master Mason, and in politics a Republican, first voting for Grant in 1872. He and his wife are Methodists. |
